Accessibility statement
As of May 2026
dieKunstBauStelle e. V. is committed to making the NaziCrimesAtlas website accessible to all users. This statement explains the current state of accessibility and the improvements we are working on.
Conformance status
The website aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at the AA level. This first English version of the website has not yet been audited by an independent expert. We carry out regular internal reviews and will adjust this statement as soon as a more detailed audit is available.
Measures taken
- Semantic HTML structure with headings, lists and landmarks
- Keyboard-accessible navigation including dropdowns and accordion menus
- Alt text on all editorial images
- Sufficient colour contrast in the design system (high contrast)
- Skip-to-content link at the start of every page
- Responsive layout for mobile, tablet and desktop down to 360 px width
- Embedded videos with native browser controls
Known limitations
- The PDF magazine and PDF press release have not yet been optimised for screen readers.
- The historical photographs and illustrations may not have full alt text in every case.
- The German-language Vimeo videos do not yet have full English captions.
